Alpha Phi, Sigma Phi Epsilon win pyramids Tuesday

Eight sororities and seven fraternities were on hand to compete for first place in the building of pyramids Tuesday afternoon at the Campus Pond.

Alpha Phi took first place title for the sorority competition and Sigma Phi Epsilon received the first place award for the fraternity competition.

Each sorority and fraternity gets one chance to build a pyramid. They must be able to hold the pyramid for three seconds. Each sorority and fraternity is timed and that decides what place they receive.

Katie Noskowiak, a speech communications major, was in the Delta Zeta pyramid.

“We have the time of our lives doing this,” Noskowiak said.

Erin Lichter, a junior finance major in the winning Alpha Phi pyramid, said she was prepared to win the competition.

“We practiced three or four times the past two weeks,” Lichter said. “It’s all in the strategy.”

Justin Miller, a sophomore business major in the winning Sigma Phi Epsilon pyramid, said his fraternity practiced for only a few minutes before the competition.

“We were pretty confident we would win,” Miller said. “It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears.”

Bob Dudolski, acting director of greek life, said this is his second year doing the Greek Week activities.

“I really enjoy working with the students,” Dudolski said. “I love this. It is a lot of planning and work.”
