Faculty Senate to meet

The Faculty Senate Tuesday will have a brief meeting to hear committee reports and take care of old business.

“There is no new business for us to work on, so we’ll just be hearing committee reports and taking care of any old business we may have,” said Faculty Senate Chair James Tidwell, journalism professor. “It should be a short meeting.”

Keith Sanders, executive director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education, was scheduled to attend Tuesday’s Faculty Senate Meeting; however, Tidwell said his visit to Eastern’s campus has been postponed to April 17.

Tidwell said the senate will discuss the progress on the faculty elections that are scheduled to be held on April 11 and 12 in the University Union.

Election petitions for various campus committees and councils were due in to Vice Chair Bud Fischer, biological sciences professor, on Friday.

The elections will involve open positions on 11 campus councils, boards or committees, including Faculty Senate and the Council on Academic Affairs.

The senate also will hear an update from Senate member French Fraker concerning the CAA Task Force, which has been discussing how online education should be assessed and regulated on Eastern’s campus.
