Margaritaville in 7th St. Underground

Students wanting a taste of Jimmy Buffett’s ideal Margaritaville, can visit University Board’s “Margaritaville.”

The event is tonight from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the 7th Street Underground in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.

Dina Tenuto, University Board concerts coordinator, said free hot wings, nachos, cheesesticks and muffins, all courtesy of the UB, will be served. Also served will be `mocktails’ or virgin drinks and ice frappacinos, Tenuto said.

Each attendee will receive a raffle ticket for a free prize and drink upon entering Margaritaville. After the first free drink, drinks are $.50 a piece.

Burkley’s Dream will be providing the music for Margariaville, Tenuto said.

“They’re an up and coming band and they have many original hits,” she said.

Jimmy Buffett-type prizes will be given away, including CDs, Hawaiian baskets and frisbees, Tenuto said.

“We’re trying to utilize 7th Street Underground more,” she said. “(University Board) wants to give something (to students) in the way of a bar alternative.”

Tenuto recently became acting concerts coordinator for University Board and has many hopes for her term.

“We’re going to try and get student feedback as to the type of bands students want to see,” she said. “We want to get students to use 7th Street Underground because, after all, it’s free!”
