Interviewing process to begin for VP vacancies

Final candidates for the positions of vice president for academic affairs and vice president for business affairs have been announced by the respective search committees.

The on-campus interviews for the five final candidates in the vice president for academic affairs search will begin March 29 with the interview of W. Hubert Keen. “We are very pleased with the candidates that will be appearing on campus and I encourage the campus constituents to participate in the on-campus interviews,” said Bonnie Irwin, chair of the vice president for academic affairs search committee and English professor.

The final candidates for the position of vice president for academic affairs are:

Lida G. Wall, current Eastern Illinois University interim provost and vice president for academic affairs, who will be interviewing on campus April 1-3.

Blair M. Lord, current University of Rhode Island vice provost for academic affairs, who will be interviewing on campus April 10-12.

W. Hubert Keen, current special assistant to the university system provost at State University of New York, who will be interviewing on campus March 29-30.

Margaret E. Winters, current interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, who will be interviewing on campus April 4-5.

David A. Young, current dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Missouri in St. Louis, who will be interviewing on campus April 6-7.

The vice president for business affairs search committee will also be bringing a total of five candidates to Eastern’s campus directly after the vice president for academic affairs campus interviews are complete.

“The finalists have extensive credentials and experience in all aspects of Business Affairs,” said Ebrahim Karbassioon, chair of the vice president for business affairs search committee and economics professor.

“All the finalists are currently vice president’s for business affairs… and that reflects their experience and credentials,” Karbassioon said.

The five final candidates for the position of vice president for business affairs are:

David T. Simpson, current vice president for business affairs and community relations at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee, who has a M.P.A. from American University.

Jeffrey L. Cooley, current acting vice president for business affairs at Eastern Illinois University, who has a B.S. from Eastern.

Dennis J. Crudele, current associate vice president for financial affairs at Florida Atlantic University, who has a B.S. from Florida State University.

Michael F. Renk, current vice president for administrative affairs at North Dakota State College of Science, who has M.B.A. from Kansas Wesleyan University.

Harry P. Schuckel, current vice president for budget, planning and information technology at Montclair State University in New Jersey, who has a M.B.A. from American University.

“We want to make sure we receive feedback, the campuses evaluation is important to the search committees decision,” Karbassioon said.
