AB to vote on budget proposals

The Apportionment Board Thursday will vote to approve five budget proposals totaling $441,000, said Tommy Brewer, AB chair.

The AB will meet at 7 p.m. in the Arcola/Tuscola Room of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.

Last week, the AB “pretty much approved” budget proposals from three of the five boards that rely on the AB for funding – the Student Senate; “Players,” which promotes and subsidizes dramatic performances on campus; and the AB, Brewer said.

Tonight, AB members will hear revised budget proposals from the other two boards the AB funds – Sports & Recreation and the University Board.

Earlier this month, in its original budget proposals, Sports & Recreation asked for $250,000 while the UB requested $210,000. Brewer said the AB has worked with members from the two boards to trim these proposals to about $170,000 and $185,000, respectively.

The AB will then approve the revised proposals, he said.

After the five budget proposals pass the AB, they will go to the Student Senate for final approval.

All of the AB’s funds come from student fees.

In other business, the AB will hear two additional allocation requests from the UB and Sports & Recreation.

Brewer said he was not sure what either of the requests are for.
