Businesses under boil order

The south side of Lincoln Avenue from Reynolds Drive to Douglas Avenue is currently under a boil order until midday Wednesday.

When utility crews attempted to put in a water main Monday, they had to take a water pipe apart and shut off the water temporarily, said Larry Pfeiffer, superintendent of the utility department. Whenever this happens, the utility department must test bacteria content of the water and allow an incubation period for the drinking water, following Environmental Protection Agency regulations.

If bacteria levels are too high, the boil order will have to be extended, Pfeiffer said.

During a boil order, residents are asked to boil all water before drinking it as a precautionary measure, Pfeiffer said.
