Web site sets its sights on students

If you are looking for a Web site that will allow you to post activities or other happenings to students across the United States, Campusdog.com may be the perfect site to accomplish this task.

The site, which debuted last week, offers every college in the United States the opportunity to utilize it as an online bulletin board, said Mike Wilcox, president of the St. Louis based company.

Without any previous promotion, the site received an extremely impressive number of hits: mustering eight to 10 thousand its first day of availability, Wilcox said.

He said it is the only online entertainment and information channel that provides information to over 1,400 college campuses in the United States.

“Even though we have a site with every other school available on it, we really want Eastern to submit things to post,” Wilcox said. “Our company doesn’t post things, we want you to post things.”

In order to post things students must go through a simple sign up process through the site, he said.

The site is classified into three bulletin boards consisting of Parties and Events, Campus Clubs and Greek Scope.

Different pages of the site contain different sections, Wilcox said.

Students can access updated movie times of local theaters, a listing of bars surrounding Charleston, restaurants and a variety of other items in the privacy of their own residence.

In a section called “You Cook It,” Wilcox said students can submit recipes for drinks and also use recipes other students have submitted.

Students with Sprint PCS wireless can also download items on Campusdog.com, he said.

“We became the first web site to appear on the wireless web,” Wilcox said.

Wilcox highlighted another section called “You’ve Got Issues,” which answers problems students submit from a male and female perspective.

“That is another really cool section on our site,” he said.

Since the site is based in St. Louis a lot of focus is put on Missouri and Illinois schools, Wilcox said.

“Students can post parties, clubs, events and really anything at once (on the site),” he said.

Wilcox said he is confident the word is going to spread about Campusdog.com and everyone will take the opportunity to get involved and reap the benefits the site provides.
