In collaboration with Eastern’s diversity advisory council and Eastern’s department of housing and dining, student government is hosting a week of events dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion this week.

On Monday, students have a chance to write their feelings on a tile and smash it in an event called the Smashing Hate Tabling. It will take place at the Mellin Steps from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, Multicultural Bowling Night will take place in the bowling alley, located in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is free to students, and refreshments will be served. Trivia and giveaways will also take place.

Panthersync: Diverse Minds Open Mic/Talent Show will be held Wednesday. Prizes including a Nintendo Switch, Beats headphones and an Oculus VR headset will be given away. It will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Seventh Street Underground.

An event exploring if student leaders think the same will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union Ballroom. A conversation exploring the perspective from student leaders will be the focus of the event. Books will be given away as well.

Finally, on Friday the Taste of EIU will be held in the Doudna Fine Arts Center concourse from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be entertainment from multicultural dancers and the International Student Association.
