For business and customer safety, 200 feet south of the alleyway outside of Ike’s on Lincoln Avenue will be blocked off by the Charleston Police Department on Mar. 4 for the Unofficial celebration.

City Council has approved to close down the street during Unofficial.

With the Unofficial/ St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, the Charleston City Council has approved to closing down the street 200 ft. of Alley to the East of Ike’s bar and grill restaurant from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Council also approved for the Expenditure of Tourism Funds for Red, White & Blue Days on July 3 and 4, 2023.

It also approved the intergovernmental agreement for ambulance billing for Oakland and Kansas Fire Protection District.

The Deputy City Manager shall be appointed by the City Manager with the advice and consent of the Mayor and Council was agreed upon by the Council.

If the City Manager is absent, the Deputy Manager will act on their behalf.

The mayor also reappointed Guiliana Dongu, Merry Lichtenberger, and Glenna Starkey to 3-year terms on the historic preservation commission.

A new position for the Deputy City Manager was approved upon at the meeting. The position is the second highest authority in the organization and operating as the chief advisor to the City Manager.

They will provide daily oversight of the activities and operations of different departments directed by the City Manager.
