The Eastern women’s soccer team hosted Western Illinois this afternoon at Lakeside Field for their last nonconference match of the season. EIU was unable to capitalize on offense after Western’s goal early in the first half.

The match between the Panthers and Leathernecks was a physical battle until the end. EIU struggled with fouls in the first half and were unable to convert on the 7 total shots and the five corner shot attempts they were given throughout the match.

EIU was able to outshoot Western 7-6, as shots came from several players. Michaela Danyo and Nicoletta Anuci had two shots each, and Cam Korhorn, Ella Onstott, and Serra Pizano each had one.

Capitalizing on these shots is crucial for EIU as it enters Ohio Valley Conference play Sunday.

EIU will host Tennessee Tech at Lakeside Field Sunday afternoon in their first OVC match.
