Literary Divas is a group at Eastern offering a biweekly discussion on a variety of books being read by group participants.

The organization, only open to 10 members per meeting, meets every other Tuesday in Blair Hall room 1103.

Their first meeting of the semester was on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., and the next meeting is on Sept. 13.

The organization is hosted through the School of Extended Learning.

Literary Divas is described as an informal group, which suggests the book for the next meeting to be discussed.

Literary Divas will choose new books to read for every meeting. These can be from all different genres and are based on what attendees want to read for the next meeting.

While there are other reading councils, clubs and events on Eastern’s campus, Literary Divas is sponsored through the School of Extended Learning.

This means that both members of the Charleston and Eastern communities are welcome to attend, whereas academic clubs such as the EIU Student Reading Council are only open to Eastern students and faculty.

The EIU Student Reading Council is primarily education based whereas Literary Divas is for fun and enjoyment.
