Matt Bierman was announced as the new Vice President of Business Affairs on June 1, 2022.

Eastern University President David Glassman announced the empty position of Vice President of Business Affairs would be filled, with the occupant starting July, 5. 

Eastern’s new Vice President of Business Affairs, Matt Bierman, has 25 years of experience in higher education, with a background in finances and leadership.

Serving as the Vice President of Business and Finance at Illinois Wesleyan University for more than four years, he also served as the Vice President for Administrative Services at Western Illinois University.

He has a bachelor’s degree in information management: computer science and a Master of Business in administration in finance and supply chain management from Western Illinois University as well as a master’s degree in student affairs administration in higher education from Ball State University.

Glassman thinks Bierman will fill the important role.

“Matt’s addition to the EIU team will benefit the university greatly,” Glassman said. “Throughout the interview process, Matt clearly exhibited his ability to lead through passionate collaboration across myriad departments and functions.”

Bierman will come to Charleston with his wife and three sons.

He is presently a member of multiple organizations.
