Coles County Habitat for Humanity will host their annual “4 for 4th” run/walk this year after having to cancel last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since July 4 falls on a Sunday this year, the event will actually take place on July 3 and will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Morton Park in Charleston.

Check in will begin at 6:30 a.m.

Pre-registration ends June 19. Before that date, the registration fee is $20 and includes a guaranteed event t-shirt.

After June 19, the registration fee will be $25.

If you raise $50 or more through donations to Coles County Habitat for Humanity, the registration fee will be waived.

Anyone under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian’s signature on the registration form.

The running course will cover four miles of city streets with some hills, and the walking course will cover two miles of city streets.

Participants in the walking portion can compete for overall first and second place.

The running portion is divided by gender and age, so men and women can compete for first and second places in the 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over divisions.

The awards ceremony will occur directly after the event and will include a free raffle for all registered participants.

All proceeds from the event will be used by the Coles County Habitat for Humanity to build homes in Coles County.
