The Coles County Health Department confirmed a third Coles County resident has tested positive for COVID-19.

While the health department is not confirming any identifying information on those who test positive, the Coles County Sheriff’s office confirmed two CCSO employees tested positive.

One of the individuals is a deputy sheriff and the other is a civilian staff member, according to a press release sent by the sheriff’s office.

Both of the employees are self-quarantined at home.

Neither employee works in the correction division, and at this time no correctional officer or inmate has shown signs of being ill.

Coles County can expect additional cases, according to the health department.

The department is encouraging all residents who develop flu-like symptoms to stay home and contact their health providers before seeking care.
