Nichole Meyer, a sophomore music education and music composition performance major, plays the ukulele Sunday night behind the front desk in McKinney Hall.

Meyer is a Conference Assistant and was working an eight-hour shift. Between checking in students for a journalism camp, explaining what their neon pink bracelets were intended for (it was their ticket to get food during the camp) and handing out linens, Meyer passed the time by listening to 1940s music or playing the ukulele and singing.

Meyer learned how to play the instrument while taking a class that required students to teach themselves how to play.

“I fell in love with it,” Meyer said.
