The EIU Jazz Ensemble released an album and named it after Charleston’s zip code—“61920.”

Samuel Fagaly, director of Eastern’s Jazz Studies program, said the album began production in the spring of 2015 and is comprised of 12 pieces by current and former jazz students.

The last time the EIU Jazz Ensemble recorded an album was back in 2000: “In the Pocket,” produced by Sam Fagaly and Michael Stryker. Before that, the EIU Jazz Ensemble recorded “Eastern Time Zone,” produced by Allan Horney.

The album “61920” can be purchased at the Doudna Fine Arts Center Box Office for $10. It is also available on CD, Baby, iTunes and Spotify under “Eastern Illinois University Jazz Ensemble.”
