Student senate to talk scholarships, pamphlets

The Student Senate will hear about grade appeal pamphlets and scholarship presentations at their meeting Wednesday.

Luke Young, student vice president for student affairs, said he gave the grade appeal pamphlets he created to Shelley James, the interim director of Ninth Street Hall, to look over.

Young said the finalized pamphlets will be put in the folders freshmen receive as they move in so they have the information with them as soon as they are on campus. The pamphlets describe what a grade appeal is and when they should and should not be used.

He said he is presenting scholarship information to students as well.

“Presentations have been going on all semester to the EIU 1111 classes; we are finishing the last two this week,” Young said.

He said a lot of students think since they made it to college, the opportunities for scholarships have ended. However, Young wants students to know scholarships opportunities are available to students once they are at Eastern, too.

He said stepping up and getting involved on campus is an important first step to applying for scholarships.
