Debby Hernandez, Administration Editor

The Council on Academic Affairs members will act upon new courses from the English, journalism and film studies departments at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Booth Library Conference Room 4440.

The council’s general education committee will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday.

The English department is looking to introduce three new courses including Introduction to Creative Writing, Transatlantic Literary History: Culture, Literacies, and Technologies I and II.

If approved, the creative writing and the transatlantic literary history I courses will be offered in Fall 2015, while the transatlantic literary history II course will be available in Spring 2016.

The film studies department is looking to revise their history of cinema course proposal, which might take in effect in summer 2015.

The council will also act upon possible changes to the undergraduate waiver rules.

Because of possible reductions in the number of credit hours for undergraduate students, the academic deans are considering to make changes to the undergraduate waivers for required course hours.

The council will also review academic waiver reports from the College of Science, Arts and Humanities, and Business during its meeting.
