Habitat hosting trivia night

The Coles County Habitat for Humanity will host a Trivia Night fundraiser 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Parish Hall of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

All proceeds for the event will be used to support the Coles County Habitat for Humanity with its goal of building three homes per year for deserving families in need.

McCormick said “tears of joy and thankfulness” appear each time a family is given the keys to their new home.

After a house is complete, a dedication and home blessing ceremony is done.

To receive a home, the family’s income must be considered inadequate, but still must have a source of income to pay for the interest-free mortgage.

This is the second year the Trivia Night fundraiser has been done. Last year the fundraiser brought in $1,675.

Teams of six to 10 players participate in answering questions on 10 different categories, which team members will answer corroboratively.

Frank McCormick, the host for the fundraiser, said it is fun for both students and older people.

“It’s a great way to test their wits on a variety of subjects, like movies politics and sports,” McCormick said.

The entrance fee for all participants is $10 per person. The prize for the winning team will be awarded $20.
