Student Senate looks to fill committees, open positions

Appointing committee chairs at tonight’s Student Senate will fill up many positions needed to begin the new semester.

Applications for chair positions were due to Student Senate Speaker Isaac Sandidge by 4 p.m. Tuesday and are going to be left up to senate approval tonight.

“After this, we will have a full committee and be ready for this next week,” said Student Body President Levi Bulgar.

More positions are open, including six or seven open Student Senate seats.

Interested students should pick up their applications at the Student Activities Center on the second floor of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.

Applications should be turned in by Friday.

The Apportionment Board is also looking to fill an undetermined number of positions for the next academic year and the Student Supreme Court is currently looking to fill three Associate Justice positions and the Chief Justice position for the next academic year.

Deadline for the applications is not set currently, but Bulgar said one would be set after the Student Government retreat on Sunday.

For more information, contact the Student Activities Center at 581-5522.

In other business, a bylaw change proposed would allow any member of Student Senate to go before Apportionment Board if the senate is requesting additional funding.

Currently, only a member of the Tuition and Fee Committee can go before Apportionment Board.

Student Senate meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the Arcola/Tuscola Room in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.

Heather Holm can be reached at 581-7942 or at [email protected].
