No problems encountered on Sept. 11

Although Sept. 11 was a mournful day throughout the nation, many still felt the fear of further terrorist attacks.

However, everything was well and good in Charleston and on campus, said Charleston Police Chief Ted Ghibellini and Adam Due, chief public safety officer for the University Police Department.

“It was a good day,” Ghibellini said.

However, Ghibellini did say there were intensified patrols Wednesday in areas of concern. Those patrols were in areas of potential mass causality or destruction but no threats turned up, he said.

Campus police also stepped up patrols since the area was on a high-alert status, but Due said the police were already trying to take extra precautions.

“We are going to be doing what we can, no matter what status we are at,” Due said.
