BSU to host weekend of fun

The Black Student Union will host a weekend of fun for all students to further “kick-off” the school year.

Two late-night parties on Friday and Saturday will comprise the “BSU Party Kick-Off Weekend,” said Monique Cook-Bey, director of student life.

On Friday night, the BSU will sponsor “Club Underground” at the 7th St. Underground in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union. The party will begin at 10:30 p.m. and go until 1:45 a.m.

A deejay, prize giveaways and “mocktails,” or non-alcoholic beverages, will provide the entertainment and refreshments for the festivity.

“Club Underground” will give students an alternative to the bars, Cook-Bey said. The party will have a bar atmosphere, but people who don’t drink can still enjoy themselves.

“The attire is club wear,” Cook-Bey said. “Come and dance yourself crazy!”

Regular admission for Friday night’s party is $3.

There will also be a “you call it” option, in which students can pick a prize, ranging from free to $4, out of a bag.

Saturday is “Boogie Nights,” a pajama party from 10 p.m. to 1:45 a.m in the University Ballroom of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.

Admission for this event is $2 for those who wear pajamas, and $3 for those who do not.

There will also be a “his and her cutest pajamas contest,” Cook-Bey said, but some rules apply.

“No thongs or speedos. We want people to have fun and get a little crazy, but not that crazy,” she said.
