The United America

The morning of September 11th, 2001 was horrible for me because I was late for my 9:00 am class and I had not listened to the radio or had seen the news. My friend could not stop talking about what she had seen on the news that morning and since I was late, I had to ask what happened. Everyone looked at me in dead silence. “Didn’t you see the news?” asked the professor.

After that class I knew what had happened. The shock of hate in this world and the shock of terrorism had hit me. How could someone take the lives of people? That’s all I could think of that day. The next day I realized I had a professor that had a best friend that died in the plane. In that same class, was a girl who had a sister that worked in the World Trade Center. Why do people hate so much? If you hate someone remember this day in history.

The next several days went by and I realized that America had decided to work together instead of being a country of racial differences, or cultural differences, or class differences. America was a country that could come together and care for each other. America was a country with pride, which was what we were built upon.

Fire Fighters were going to New York to help and people were donating so much that Red Cross became over stocked. When people unite together, miracles can happen, despite the bad things.

People came together in prayer. Religion wasn’t bashed anymore. It didn’t matter if prayer was in schools. Now that September 11th is cleaned up, why don’t we donate blood, why don’t we still pray for the victims and others? Everyone in America was united because of September 11th so let’s stay united.
