Final candidate for dean post to field questions

The final candidate for the dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies will field questions during an open-session interview at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 2821 of Lantz Building.

Jo-Anne Evans Coleman is the last candidate to interview for the position, which will be vacated by current dean Elizabeth Hitch who will begin next fall at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

Coleman is the vice president for academic and student affairs of Northwestern Health Services University in Bloomington, Minn.

From August of 1998 to August of 2001, Coleman taught in the elementary school system and the Secondary Teacher Clinical Faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences at St. Benedict/St. John’s University in St. Joseph, Minn.

Coleman earned a doctorate of philosophy in educational policy and administration and educational psychology in 1996.

She also received a master’s in certificate licensure for professional administrators from St. Mary’s University in 1983 and a master’s in educational psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1983.

Coleman received a bachelor’s in speech language pathology and audiology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1977.

Blair Lord, vice president for academic affairs, and interim President Lou Hencken are each scheduled to meet with Coleman Wednesday.

Three other candidates have already interviewed for the position.

Barbara Livingston Nourie, associate dean for teacher education at Illinois State University, interviewed from April 7 to 9.

David England, dean of the College of Education at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, interviewed from April 15 to 17.

Charles Rohn, chair and associate professor for the department of educational administration at Eastern, interviewed from April 21 to 23.
