Subway offering free cookie giveaway Friday

Subway has filled their stock rooms with hundreds of cookies only to give them all away to customers for free cookie day.

Anyone at either Subway location, in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union or at 200 West Lincoln Ave., can select a free cookie of any flavor on Friday to give the restaurants the opportunity to thank their customers and celebrate the restaurants’ new line of cookies.

“Free cookie day is not just a promotion for our cookie line; it’s also a customer appreciation day as well,” Erin Wilson, assistant manager at the Lincoln Avenue Subway, said.

Both Subways have made extra preparations by ordering an extra box of each type of cookie so supplies won’t run out.

The free cookie day promotion, for which no purchase is necessary, comes just days after the introduction of a number of overall improvements to the Subway cookie line, a press release said.

The changes include a new double chocolate cookie, a chocolate cookie with white and dark chocolate chips and an increased number of chips and nuts used in certain cookie varieties, the press release said.

“We are very excited about the roll-out of the new flavor and the other formula enhancements. Free cookie day is the perfect way to showcase the upgrades and great tastes that consumers have come to expect from Subway,” Mark Christiano, a Subway baking specialist, said.

This is the first annual free cookie day promotion, Alisha Myer, an employee at the Subway located in the Union Food Court, said.

Wilson estimated an extra 200 cookies will be given away because of the promotion.
