The upcoming student government election

Letter to the editor:

I have been briefly following the upcoming election for student government. What I have been mainly concerned about is the race for Vice President of Financial Affairs. Being a current memeber of Apportionment Board, I felt I needed to voice my opinion to the student body.

One of the main responsibilities of the Vice President of Financial Affairs is to make sure the Apportionment Board meeting are run smoothly. (For those of you who may not know what Apportionment Board is, here is a brief summary: Students pay an activity fee each semester, which is later distributed to five different student organizations. The organizations propose a budget and Apportionment Board then decides how much money each organization will recieve.) Their decision, in tutrn, effects us as students.

I have looked at both canidates qualifications and platforms, and I feel Amy Leonard is the most qualified choice. In order to run the Apportionment Board meeting, I feel it is necessary to have been a member, or at least sat in on a few meetings, which Tim Edwards has failed to do. Although Edwards may have experience in other areas, he has none with apportionment board, which is vital to the position. Amy Leonard has sat on the Apportionment Board for two semester. Besides her experience with the board, she is on student senate, the parking committee, and memeber of Alpha Gamma Delta. I am confident Amy Leonard can sucessfully fufill the positon of the Vice President of Financial Affairs!
