Students receive art awards at Tarble’s All Student Show

Awards were presented Sunday to winning entries in the All-Student Show at the Tarble Arts Center.

Michael Watts, director of Tarble, said award winners recognized included students selected by jurors as well as students selected by the faculty. Jurors were selected from outside of the university to give an objective viewpoint of the work.

This year, 348 works were submitted and 92 works from 62 students were accepted. The All-Student Show was established in 1983 for undergraduate students. This year, $2,500 worth of awards were presented. Funding for the awards was provided by donations from alumni.

Glenn Hild, associated art professor, and Suzan Braun, art professor, presented the awards to the winners.

The winners of the awards include David Abrahamsen, for the merit award for electronic media; Greg Baker, for an honorable mention for graphic design; Jason Bly, for the merit award for drawing; Katie Voegel, for a honorable mention for design; Natalie M. Brown, for the merit award for printmaking; Kerry Brunken, for the merit award for fibers; Chet Farley, for Best of Show; Sarah Hanebrink, for an honorable mention for fibers; Michael Harvey, for the merit award for painting; Rebecca Hutchison, for the merit award for design; Kendra Johnson, for the merit award for digital art; Marybeth Marfia, for an honorable mention for drawing; Polly Mae Rosa, for the Knoop Sculpture Award; Thomas Whitworth, for the merit award for ceramics; and Levi Woolen-Danner, for the merit award for sculpture, among others.
