Comedian keeps 7th Street Undergorund laughing

Alexandra McHale entertained about 80 students and faculty Friday night at 7th Street Underground.

McHale had a variety of jokes ranging from college life to talking about her Irish background; the difference between blondes and redheads; how blondes grow up to be something special and how there are so many ugly dresses in a wedding.

The highlights of the show included her talking to audience members about the the school paper, and about “cow tipping.”

McHale, who has been doing comedy for more than two years, interacted well with the crowd, especially when the topic of relationships surfaced.

McHale referred to the relationship of a couple in the audience as the “Honeymoon stage,” because they had only been dating for three months.

She said relationships change after they have evolved for a long time.

“I enjoyed the crowd,” she said.

She also said it was good to see a great turnout, and she was especially happy to see Father Chris come out and support the event.

McHale is a graduate of Fairfield University in Connecticut and is also a member of the prestigious Actor’s Studio in New York City.

At the Actor’s Studio, McHale studied with Paul Newman, Sally Field and Robert Redford, a press release said. She realized that she had a talent for making people laugh and tried her comedy out at some local comedy clubs such as The Comic Strip, Catch a Rising Star and Caroline’s.

McHale has performed with N2O Comedy; All Legs, No Brains and The Bottlerockets, a press release said. Most recently she performed on the new comedy show called New Joke City with Robert Klein and as host of the Who Knew segment on the Metro Channel’s weekly show Gotham.
