Chamber music to fill Tarble

Music lovers should find their way to the Tarble Arts Center this Sunday for the final concert of the 2001-2002 Chamber Music Series with the Ensemble Choragos.

The vocal ensemble, consisting of six members, will perform at 3 p.m. in the Tarble Arts Center.

The members of the group are Sherezade Panthaki, Patricia Poulter, Richard Rossi, Dan Hughes, Philip Silvey and Fred Stoltzfus.

Richard Rossi, assistant professor of the music department, said that the Choragos have made a CD and appearances in France and Toronto.

“We have decided to stay together and keep singing,” Rossi said. “It’s really very exciting.”

Rossi said the group mostly “chooses its selections from the 50 manuscripts produced between the years of 1495 and 1535 for the Burgundian Habsburg courts of Archduke Philip the Fair, Emperor Maximilian, Dowager Duchess Margaret of Austria and Archduke Charles.”

The ensemble will perform music written for the members of the Austrian court, circa 1500, Rossi also noted.

Rossi said that ticket prices are $5 for the general public, $3 for senior citizens and students and $1 for middle and senior high school students.

Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the concert or ordered in advance by calling Tarble Arts Center at 581-2787.
