Hundreds of Charleston residents lost power due to a tree damaging a power line Tuesday afternoon.

The Ameren media contact said the tree had fallen due to wind, and no injuries had been reported.

Initially, the outage was around 1,500 people, according to Ameren’s outage map, but the number of people without power is slowly decreasing.

Ameren’s media contact advised people to stay away from downed power lines.
