Today is Jan. 29, 2020. Here are the five things happening on Eastern’s campus you need to know today

1. Spring enrollment numbers ‘really good’

Eastern Provost Jay Latrell said at Tuesday’s Faculty Senate meeting that Eastern’s 10th day enrollment numbers for the Spring 2020 semester were “really good.” The full numbers are expected to be released either today or Thursday. 2. Eastern’s new nursing program progressing quickly

There is still much work to be done, but Eastern’s new nursing program is continuing to move quickly through the steps required to be finalized. 3. 3rd College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean candidate visits

Stuart Benkert, the third candidate for the CLAS dean position visited campus Tuesday for an open session meeting in Booth Library. Benkert is currently the head of the Department of Performing Arts at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. 4. Colorism panel hosted in University Union

A colorist panel at which students and staff discussed race at Eastern and in Charleston was held Tuesday in Booth Library. Students in attendance were polled on if they knew what colorist was, 85 percent did and if they thought it was still an issue in society, 100 percent said yes. 5. Student Senate to hold 1st official meeting
