Charge dropped for former student

The obstruction of justice charge against former Eastern student Tatyana Jackson has been dismissed.

State’s Attorney Jesse Danley said the charges against Jackson, 22, were dropped because the state was unable to contact a material witness.

Danley said the State could not contact Jasmine May after several attempts and could not proceed in the trial without May as a witness.

Jackson was originally accused of obstruction of justice in March and was supposed to begin a jury trial Tuesday morning.
