Freezing rain, snow expected Friday morning

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday for much of central Illinois and east central Illinois.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow will continue with some freezing drizzle occurring overnight. Around two inches of snow is expected by dawn Friday along with a light glaze of ice less than a tenth inch.

The patchy, freezing drizzle will continue into mid Friday morning with a chance of light freezing rain early Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Isolated thunderstorms will be possible late Saturday morning and into the afternoon. Gusty winds and heavy rains may continue throughout Saturday.
