Proposal for Constitutional Oversight to be voted on

The proposal to have a Committee on Constitutional Oversight will be voted on at tonight’s Student Senate meeting.

If it passes, the proposal would give the opportunity for anyone interested in joining the committee to review the constitution.

The revision of the constitution was going to be only a seven-person committee at first, including Student Body President Levi Bulgar.

Drew Griffin, the chair of the external relations committee, however, created the proposal so anyone could join.

“The reason I wanted to draft legislation was to get as many viewpoints as possible,” Griffin said at last week’s senate meeting. “Really, what I am hoping is for the (Student) Senate to open the committee. Once the committee has convened, we would like to get as many executives, senators and students as possible on the committee.”

A new resolution will be presented tonight as well.

In other related news, the library hours research idea was brought to Faculty Senate Tuesday for discussion.

“We have a list of tentative groups, but are planning on visiting several groups through the month of November,” Kromphardt said at last week’s meeting.
