Jill Nilsen, vice president for external relations, confirmed late Thursday that federal officers visited her at her office sometime that day.

Nilsen would not comment on why the federal officers were present, or if the visit was related to the ongoing federal investigation involving Eastern, The Illinois Board of Higher Education, House Speaker Michael Madigan, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399, the Illinois Department of Labor and the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board.

Nilsen would not say if she had been issued a subpoena by the federal officers.

University spokesperson Vicki Woodard said she was not aware of the incident and did not have a statement from the university Thursday night.
