Council elects new chair, changes psychology course

In two uncontested races, the Council on Academic Affairs named its officers Thursday for fall 2002 and spring 2003 semesters.

In other business, the council accepted a revision to Advanced Statistics in Psychology, PSY 4610, adding a lab session to the course.

Nancy Marlow, managing and marketing professor, will be chair of the Council next year. She is in her second term on the CAA, and next year will be the final year of her term. Marlow replaces Andrew Methven, associate biology professor, as chair. Methven begins a new term on the council next year.

Doug Bock, speech communications professor, regained his seat as vice chair of the CAA. He is in his fourth term on the council and has served for 10 years. Bock said he has been either chair or vice chair for six of his 10 years on the council.

The pyschology department will be adding a lab component to PSY 4610 next semester.

Steve Scher, associate psychology professor, told the council Thursday the change would be effective for two reasons.

The course is required by all departmental honors students and serves as an elective for psychology majors.
