Student recital tofeature Beethoven

Erica Graceffa, a senior music major and piano minor, will give her senior recital this Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Her concert will be held in the Dvorak Concert Hall in the Doudna Fine Arts Center.

“I would like to dedicate the concert and my selections to my piano teacher back home, who died in 1998, and to my current piano teacher, who is about to retire,” she said. “They have both helped me out a lot.”

Graceffa, along with her instructor, George Sanders, professor in the music department, chose the music for the recital and will be playing some famous piano pieces.

“We have chosen music that is technically difficult but still interesting for the audience to listen to,” Graceffa said.

Graceffa’s music will feature well-known works such as Beethoven’s “Senata.”

“Beethoven’s ‘Senata’ is composed of three movements,” Graceffa said. “The movements go from uplifting to a kind of mysterious feel.”

Graceffa will also play ” Nocturne” and ” Mazurka” from Chopin, as well as “Preludes” by Muczynski .

Graceffa commented that she has been preparing for her senior recital for a full year.

“I am a little nervous about it, but i feel that I am prepared for it after the work that I have done; I feel more excited about it ,” she said.

Eastern’s performance majors are required to give junior and senior recitals as a graduation requirement, Graceffa said
