Donovan said she has been lifeguarding since she was 15 but started lifeguarding at Eastern this semester. “I like knowing that I’m responsible for peoples lives, she said.  “If there is a situation I am the one to save them.”

EIU University Board members wait for particpants to come in and check in for their event “Guess the Price” in University Ballroom Thursday evening. University Board member, Izzy Hernandez, a sociology junior, explained “Guess the Price” has “18 mini games, some are modeled as ’The Price is Right’ and some are modeled as ‘Let’s Make A Deal.’ Students have a chance to play the mini games and win a prize.” Students had the opportuntiy to win various prizes such as a television to a Nintendo Switch.

Ashleigh Tira, a first year graduate student studying speech-language pathology, teaches in a session to improve her student’s encoding and decoding skills and receptive and expressive language. Tira said her plan for the future is to work in a medical setting specifically working with stroke and dysphasic patients.

Bishop said they wrote the signs “a little while go since Brother Jed has come to campus multiple times.” Ramsey and Bishop said they met at Brother Jed’s outings and became friends since then. Ramsey has expressed “as someone who identifies as both a person of color and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I recognize how underrepresented we are and it’s important that are voices are heard. it’s not fair that people believe that can spin religion and spew it back in our faces as hateful speech. You can be both Christian and still indulge in yourself and your identity.”
