Sophomore right-handed pitcher Bryce Riggs will be Eastern’s starting pitcher against Lindenwood in the Ohio Valley Conference elimination bracket semifinal game at 6 p.m., head coach Jason Anderson confirmed.
The Panthers will go to a pitcher outside of their main three starters after using all three in their two games so far in the tournament.
Riggs has three starts on the season, but none are against a conference opponent. Eastern won all of his starts by more than seven. Across the season, he totaled 38 innings and put up a 2.61 ERA.
In his one outing against Lindenwood this season, he pitched three innings and only allowed one hit.
Lindenwood (30-28, 14-12) lost 4-1 to Little Rock Friday afternoon in the winner’s bracket semifinal. The Lions only had five total hits in the game.
Eastern won the regular season series, winning the first two games 5-4 and 4-3, and Lindenwood took the final game 14-4.
The winner of the game will face Little Rock in the OVC baseball championship and has to beat the Trojans twice to win the title.
