The Sports Staff shared which team they think will win the 59th Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Zaria Flippin (Sports Editor): Philadelphia Eagles
Ah, yes. The Super Bowl is here. Over the past couple of years, I’ve always gone against the Chiefs, rooting for the other team. Although that has never gone my way, this will be the year I made the right choice.
I think the Philadelphia Eagles will win despite all the controversy that comes from the Kansas City Chiefs and the referees. The Eagles got dawgs on both sides of the ball, and even though the Chiefs also have some, I think the Eagles want this win more and will fight until the game is officially over.
Also, coming from someone who had Saquon Barkley on her fantasy football team, I would love to see him win a ring. Think about it. If the Eagles win, Kenny Pickett will get a ring before names such as T.J. Watt and Derrick Henry. Let’s face it, the Chiefs need to sit down and be humble (shoutout Kendrick Lamar), because at the end of the day, I will be an Eagles fan for the day. Fly Eagles Fly.
Gabe Newman (Assistant Sports Editor): Kansas City Chiefs
While I understand the frustration football fans have for officiating in the NFL– I too find myself screaming at the TV even though nobody can hear me, at some point we must admit that Kansas City is the best team in the league, and that’s the reason the Chiefs are as good as they are.
Andy Reid is one of the best coaches of all time, and the Chiefs are a team that does every little thing right. As for the Eagles, I don’t fully trust them. Last Super Bowl came down to which team had the better quarterback, and nobody is and has ever been better than Patrick Mahomes.
I’ll be rooting for the Eagles, blasting “Philadelphia Freedom” by Elton John as a symbol of good luck. However, I fear I may be disappointed when Reid, Mahomes and Roger Goodell are standing on the podium with the Lombardi Trophy with red and yellow confetti raining down on them for the third straight year.
Gunnar Olson (Editor in Chief): Philadelphia Eagles
Here we have another decision, another super bowl. I personally have had a terrible time picking the Super Bowl champion. As I currently have a 2-11 record when trying to back the right team. Now, those two wins have come from two franchises: the Philadelphia Eagles (2017) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2021).
Sticking to history, I’m going to be backing the Eagles again this year in the big game. As of right now I have a .500 win percentage when picking them to win. Plus I would find it to be very funny if Kenny Pickett were to have more Super Bowl wins than 12 NFL franchises. The belief that the Chiefs will win a third straight super bowl is something that will never happen. I say not in their wildest dreams.
Also, side tangent, as a New Orleans Saints fan, I feel who I want to win in my team’s stadium should matter more. All in all, I would love to offer my closing words on the matter. Fly Eagles fly.
Emerson Reynolds (Sports Reporter): Kansas City Chiefs
I was provided with the hardest question any member of this staff has ever been questioned with, and it was not this question. I think that the Chiefs are going to win.
Now please do not take that as I want the Chiefs to win, I would rather watch a New York Jets or Giants game. I want the Eagles to win.
I put it as my good friend on this staff Gabe Newman put it, I like bird teams. Also, Saquon Barkley is my dawg. That man got me through so much in fantasy. I finished with only two losses outside the post-season, and I would not be lying if those Saquon 40-point games got me through some very rough spots.
Also, I miss Jason Kelce very much. Please, can he unretire for a game? Tom Brady does it all the time, so can a talented player do it? So, if you want to know, I think the Chiefs will win, but I want the Eagles to win.
But what I really want is for Kendrick Lamar to somehow win the game. He made “To Pimp A Butterfly,” so I think that man can do anything.
Bryce Parker (Multimedia Reporter): Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift and Rodger Goodell’s pockets will win Super Bowl LIX because of Ron Torbert and his staff.
Torbert hasn’t officiated a Chiefs game in two years, so he’ll jump on the opportunity to join the red and white stripes. Josh Allen was past the first down marker, just to name one unfair call.
To quote Mahomes after he played the Bills during the regular season, “That’s the worst f—— call I’ve ever seen. That’s the worst f—— call ever man.”

Fly, Eagles, Fly.
On the road to victory.
Fight, Fight, Fight.
Fight, Eagles, Fight.
Score a touchdown 1-2-3.
Hit ‘em low.
Hit ‘em high.
And watch our Eagles fight.
Fly Eagles Fly.
On the road to victory.
E-A-G-L-E-S!
Eagles!
The Eagles have been so dominant. Running back Saquon Barkley is the best running back in the league and will run all over the Chiefs defense. Jalen Hurts may not be the best quarterback, but he is good enough to be able to lead a team to a Super Bowl. The Eagles defense can hold teams so its offence can win games. Overall, the Eagles are a team to be reckoned with and can win the Super Bowl easily.
Sike, give me the Chiefs.
Payton Liggins (Sports Reporter): Philadelphia Eagles
The Super Bowl is here. Good yes, but who really wanted to see the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles play again?
Even though I’m a Chicago Bears fan through and through, I will personally be rooting for the Eagles this year because I’m simply tired of the Chiefs winning every year.
Even though people think the Chiefs will be running through the Eagles, I think the Eagles will hold their own against them. I didn’t get Saquon Barkley for my fantasy team, but with his stats, I wish I did.
I hope the Eagles can respectfully humble the Chiefs. Fly Eagles Fly.
Braden Boyer (Sports Reporter): Kansas City Chiefs
Defense wins championships, and that’s going to hold true as the Chiefs look to take Super Bowl 59 and be the first team in history to win three straight Super Bowls.
I think the Chiefs will keep the Eagles in their nest with players like Chris Jones, George Karlaftis and Nick Bolton. I think the Eagles will put up a fight with their fire power offense of AJ Brown and Saquon Barkley but will ultimately fall short in this Super Bowl shoot out.
I think it will take until the fourth quarter to separate these two teams, but the Chiefs’ offense will eventually wear down the Eagles defense with players like DeAndre Hopkins, Kareem Hunt and Travis Kelce. At the end of the game, I think the score will be 31-27 with the Chiefs hoisting up the Lombardi trophy for the third straight year securing their name in NFL history.
