What once was free black and white printing in Booth Library, is now 8 cents a page being charged to students’ accounts.

The cost of printing has been raised. For the past few semesters, the printing cost at Eastern, has been free.

The printing costs were offset through a short-term State GEER grant, according to public information coordinator, Josh Reinhart.

The GEER grant is Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund, which is for assisting higher education institutions through the pandemic.

Reinhart also said, “GEER funds were intended to assist Illinois higher education institutions through the pandemic.”

The printing agreement was ended early during the Fall 2022 semester. Eastern still wants to extend the agreement. To do this, Eastern has subsidized free printing services to students until the end of the Fall 2022 semester.

Eastern will continue to offer free printing through the end of the Spring 2023 semester, May 5, 2023, but will return to printing charges Saturday, May 6, 2023.

The cost for black and white printing will cost $0.08 and colored printing will cost $0.16 and will be charged to their student accounts.
