Red, White and Blue Days seeks vendors

Charleston’s Red, White and Blue Days committee members have opened vendor applications and parade entries for 2021.

The annual event, which is always held around July 4, was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, Red, White and Blue Days are scheduled for July 3 and 4.

This year, committee member Betty Coffrin says that organizers will just ask that attendees follow the social distancing guidelines at that time and stay respectful of each other.

“This is kind of a special celebration this year. We missed last year, so this is going to be doubly important,” Coffrin said. “We’re looking forward to a fun parade.”

Since the event is about six weeks away, organizers are looking for vendors to set up in Morton Park for the two days.

According to the park’s rules, no private vendors can operate on the premises, so most vendors at the event will be nonprofit organizations.

Coffrin said that the committee has already been contacted by some of their regular vendors who are interested in being involved again.

She also said that groups don’t have to be established organizations to be vendors. Anyone who is raising money for any reason can participate.

Groups also don’t have to actually raise money. Coffrin said that organizations are also allowed to set up booths just to hand out information.

Red, White and Blue Days organizers are also looking for parade entries for July 4.

Coffrin said that entries can include businesses, floats, churches, or any other group that is interested in participating.

Applications for vendors and parade entries can be found at charlestonredwhiteandblue.com, as well as rules for the parade and the current schedule for the events and performers.
