Fireside chat series to continue Tuesday

The Center for Gender and Sexual Diversity will be giving a virtual Panther Fire Side Chat on Tuesday from 2-3 p.m.

The event is being hosted by the Civil Engagement and Volunteerism Office and will discuss three different topics related to LGBT history in honor of October being LGBT History Month.

The Student Drag Show is also being held virtually on November 6 during Eastern’s Family Weekend. The first LGBT History Month was founded by Rodney Wilson, a Missouri high school teacher, in 1994.

The Civil Engagement and Volnteerism Office has been hosting Fireside Chats since February when they kicked off their Chasing the America Dream Series.

There was a Fireside Chat held on Oct. 8 in which journalism issues were discussed.

Bryan Murley, an associate journalism professor, Betsy Jewell, an adjunct journalism instructor, discussed the history of one-sided news channels and Shawn Peoples, Title IX Coordinator and Director of Civil Rights & Diversity, spoke in the chat.
