Eastern to offer modified CR/NC option for summer classes

Adam Tumino, Editor-in-Chief

Eastern Provost Jay Gatrell announced that a credit/no-credit option for summer classes, similar to the option made available during the spring semester but with a few key differences.

Gatrell said that the option was made available this summer for students who are impacted by current events, including “COVID-19, recent unrest, economic challenges, and other issues that have rapidly changed everyday life across the state, nation, and world.”

Students will be able to apply to change a B or C grade to Credit and a D or F grade to No Credit. In order to apply, an instructor can recommend the C/NC option to a student if the instructor is concerned with the student’s progress. If a student is concerned with their ability in the class, they can suggest the option to an instructor as well.

Like in the spring, the student will need to consult their adviser. The application must be submitted by August 1 to be considered.

The application is different than the one from the spring, this time requiring the name, email and department of the instructor who teaches the class the application is being submitted for.
