DEN Quick News: 5 things you need to know today

Today is Jan. 30, 2020. Here are the five things happening on Eastern’s campus you need to know today.

1. Eastern sees Spring enrollment rise

Eastern’ Spring 2020 total enrollment is 7,621 students, a 181 student increase from the Spring 2019. 5,886 of those students are non-high school dual-credit students, while 1,735 are high-school dual-credit students. 2. Men’s basketball team traveling to Murray State, Austin Peay

The Eastern men’s basketball team begins it two-game road trip Thursday with a game against first-place Murray State (8-0 OVC) and then travels to Austin Peay Saturday to play the team tied with Murray State for first-place in Austin Peay (8-0 OVC). 3. Women’s basketball team to face 2-6 conference foes

Eastern’s women’s basketball team will play a pair of team’s with 2-6 OVC records this weekend beginning with Murray State on Thursday followed by Austin Peay on Saturday. Head coach Matt Bollant said that both teams were better than their 2-6 OVC record would indicate however. Eastern is preparing for a pair of tough road matches, not two 2-6 teams. 4. Student Senate inducts 4 new senators

The Eastern Student Senate inducted four new senators at its meeting Wednesday night in the Arcola/Tuscola room of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union. 5. Diversity Action Council hosts ‘The Words We Use’
