Reporters to talk 2018’s Taylorville tornado coverage

Reporters will recount and reflect Wednesday on their experiences covering the Taylorville tornado almost a year after it happened.

According to a flyer for the panel, “On December 1, 2018, a tornado ripped through Taylorville, Illinois, damaging or destroying more than a hundred homes and injuring several people.”

Panelists for “Eyes of the Storm: Taylorville Tornado Coverage & Communication, a Year Later” include Joe Astrouski, Eastern journalism professor and former reporter for WAND NBC 17, Joe Gasparich, tornado recovery public information officer, Chris Miller, warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service and Jesse Guinn of the 25 Weather Tracker team at WEEK NBC 25.

The panel will begin at 7 p.m. in the Doudna Lecture Hall of the Doudna Fine Arts Center.
