Former Lt. Tyler Heleine has been promoted to Chief Deputy of the Coles County Sheriff’s Department, according to a press release.

Heleine has worked for the department since 2007 under several titles, including correctional deputy, patrol deputy, inspector at the East Central Illinois Task Force, detective sergeant and patrol lieutenant.

Heleine has also served as a member of the Illinois National Guard since August 2001 and is currently a First Sergeant for the 1844th Transportation Company.

The promotion will take effect on May 1.
