African-American Heritage Month begins Feb. 1, and Eastern is home to a number of events and activities in conjunction.

Yolanda Williams, chair of the 2019 AAHM and academic adviser, said this year’s theme is “Black Lives Matter: A Movement, not a Moment.”

This year, the AAHM committee is focusing on connecting the core values of the Black Lives Matter Movement to Eastern and the celebration of African-American Heritage Month, she said.
