A fire at 3:48 a.m. on 1001 Elm Street destroyed a structure Tuesday, but no injuries were reported.

The resident was home at the time of the fire but was able to escape without injury.

According to a press release, the Charleston Fire Department arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence. The fire originated near the kitchen and the bathroom.
