Eastern Trustee Dan Caulkins has decided to run for state Rep. Bill Mitchell’s (R-Forsyth)  seat in the House of Representatives in the upcoming election.

Caulkins will officially announce his candidacy for representative of the 101st district at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Decatur Civic Center.

“When (Mitchell) announced his desire not to run again, it really opened up an opportunity for me to seek the nomination,” Caulkins said.
